Costs and Plan Options

Old Republic Home Protection offers their customers three plan options – the Standard Plan, the Ultimate Protection Plan, and the Platinum Protection Plan. You also have the right to add optional coverage for other appliances and systems that are not covered by these three plans – optional coverage is offered on a per-appliance or per-system basis. Standard Plan Cost: The total cost for the Standard Plan ranges from $260 to $500 per year, depending on where you live. This plan includes coverage for most major systems and appliances, but there are coverage limits so be sure to review the plan details before you buy.

Ultimate Protection Plan

(Standard Plan PLUS the following)

  • Plumbing (faucets, shower heads, etc.)
  • Heating System (filters, heat lamps, etc.)
  • Water Heater (expansion tanks)
  • Dishwasher (baskets, rollers, racks, etc.)
  • Oven/Microwave/Range (racks, handles, knobs, etc.)

  • Enhanced Coverage – up to $250 per plan to correct code violations, up to $250 per plan for required permits, haul away for covered appliances, correcting improper installations/repairs/modifications.

Ultimate Protection Plan Cost: The total cost for the Ultimate Protection Plan is around $490 with a $100 trade call fee or around $520 with a $75 trade call fee. This fee must be paid for each service call.

Platinum Protection Plan

(Ultimate Protection Plan PLUS the following)

  • Plumbing items (tub spouts, diverter, basket strainer)
  • Enhanced Coverage – up to $250 per plan to clear stoppages, up to $1,000 per plan for construction/carpentry, increase Standard Plan limit per term by $1,000 for heating and air conditioning systems ($2,500 total).

Platinum Protection Plan Cost: The total cost for the Platinum Protection Plan is $590 with a $100 trade call fee per service call.

Optional Coverage Add-Ons:

In addition to the systems and appliances covered by the three plans listed above, Old Republic Home Protection customers can add optional coverage for individual systems and appliances as listed below:

  • Additional Refrigeration Units ($50)
  • Well Pump ($100)
  • Booster Pump ($75)
  • External Pipe Leak Coverage ($100)
  • Septic Tank Pumping/Septic Systems ($75)
  • Limited Roof Leak Repair ($100)
  • Pool/Spa Equipment ($180)

In addition to the cost of your Old Republic Home Protection plan, you will also be responsible for paying a trade service call fee per claim. The amount of this fee varies depending which plan you choose. You will be required to pay this fee regardless whether the claim is granted in part or in whole.

Contracts and Restrictions

Your plan term effective and expiration date will be indicated on the Declaration of Coverage mailed to you upon receipt of payment. Old Republic provides coverage for single family residential use resale and new construction homes less than 5,000 square feet.

Coverage is effective upon close of sale for a one-year term. The plan fee must be received within 14 days after the closing of sale. You may purchase Optional Coverage within 60 days of close of sale. Upon receipt of additional plan fee, you will be mailed an updated Declaration of Coverage.

The plan will be renewed at Old Republic’s discretion. If your plan is eligible for renewal, you will be notified of the plan fee and terms approximately 60 days before expiration of the plan. Plan fees may increase upon renewal and payment must be received before plan expiration.

The plan is non-cancelable except for nonpayment of fees, misrepresentation of facts, or upon mutual agreement. If the plan is canceled you will be entitled to a pro-rated refund of paid plan fees for the unexpired term, less service costs incurred and a $50 processing fee.

    I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are not customer service orientated at all. For example the last two time I called I was told the issue would be covered and when the technician showed up I was informed that it would not be covered and I would still have to pay the 65.00 charge even though I had diagnosed the problem before hand and was mislead. Rather than eat the charge Old Republic told me if I was dissatisfied I could go on the web site and cancel…. Once again this was a lie as there is not way to cancel this god awful home warranty and get your money back. I think my next call will be to the Better Business Bureau

    Avoid this company at all cost. The contract is useless and will not be honored. You will be forced to waste valuable time fighting with representative every time you attempt to use your coverage. It amounts to a hostage situation. I will be moving my warranty as soon as my current contract expires. I will file with the BBB and also with Consumer Affairs as soon as this current dispute settles. This company is a complete nightmare. Staff is rude, and warranty is worthless.

    Sellar sold me a house with wire that is inferior, and this worthless company does not want to make good on the items…..par for the course! Sorry they are……I knew nothing about this problem, until I moved in!

    My 78 year old mother just closed on her new house, Sellers provided ORHW as part of the contract. Sellers had the AC serviced 5 days prior to Mom’s move in. No issues, all in working order 3 days after closing the AC went out. We called ORHW and immediately got the run around. ie, we haven’t received the payment from closing for the premium, this must be an existing condition, etc.. I explained to the representative that the AC was working when we closed and working up until this day, they said they would have a dispatcher call us back,,,,,waited 2 hours in the heat (90 in the house) no call back….called again… they couldn’t find our service request, so we started the process over again. Rep comes back on the line and says we cannot have anyone out until Monday (we are calling on Friday), I said do you realize that we are in Houston, Texas….and my mother is 78 years old sitting in the heat…..their response was and I quote ” WELL YOU REALIZE IT IS ALMOST THE WEEKEND AND IT IS HARD TO GET CONTRACTORS TO RESPOND”….wrong answer…..told them to forget it and called my personal AC service they were out in 15 minutes, AC is shot but at least they provided portable units to keep my Mom cool…..DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ORHW……..they are a joke.

    When I bought my home, I bought the premium Old Republic Home Warranty. I got the home inspection during the purchase but it did not find any major problems. However, it turned out there were major problems. I had to call Home Republic many times from plumbing leak, swimming pool, and A/C problems. Some issues took time to fix and was frustrating dealing with different contractors. However, everything got fixed. After the year was over, Home Republic dropped me and would not cover me because of the number of calls I had. Service and repair was pretty good and I would have continued with them if they had not dropped me.

    What I liked about this company is their ability to provide coverage for my swimming pool. Before I signed up with them I had a lot of problems trying to repair the equipment of my swimming pool. It was costly to a point I was tempted to close it down. However, a friend told me about this company. I saw it a good deal and signed up with them immediately. I am satisfied now as they are able to repair my swimming pool at a lower cost than before.
