When I started with them back in 2010 they were terrific. They have steadily gone down hill. Their service people are very average and the response time is awful. Also they penalize you BIG TIME if you cancel. There are many Home Protect services who are much better.

Called Total Protect on July 20, 2017 because my air conditioner stopped working. It was an 100 degree day. I got a claim number and I was instructed to call ANS Service LLC. I spoke with Bryon who promptly told me that I would have to wait until July 25, 2017, at btween 8AM and 10AM, 5 days later, for an appointment. For those 5 days the temperatures were well over 90 degrees each day. No one arrived on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 10AM. At 10:15AM I called ANS Service LLC and got an answering machine. I left a message about the no show at 10AM. Bryon did not call me back. Next, I called Total Protect Customer Sevice and spoke to Chad about no one showing up at 10AM to fix my air conditioner and how I hadn’t heard from Bryon. Chad switched me to Gail who told me that Bryon of ANS Service LLC had an energency installation and would not be at my home until that afternoon. I asked her why one customer’s installation is an emergency and mine is not an emergency. She answered that when I made the claim, I did not declare it an emergency. When I asked about what time Bryon would be at my home that afternoon, Gail kept apologozing, not realizing that her apologies were not accomplishing anything in relation to getting the repair man to my home. She responded that she couldn’t give me a time and that I would just have to wait. At 11:45AM, Bryon called to say that he had one more emergency installation to do before he could get to me. He could not tell me what time and said he would come as soon as he finished that job. Bryon called at 12:30PM to say that he will come at 1:30PM or 2:00PM. Bryon of ANS Service LLC did not show at 2:00PM. The horror story continues when Bryon called again at 2:15PM to say that he will arrive at 2:30PM or 2:35PM. Bryon finally arrived at 2:45PM. Bryon opened up the air conditioner compressor unit. He kept commentiing on the unit beiing a piece of crap and that it was old. He proceded to to replace the capacitor and got the unit started. He did not even wait to see if the air conditioner was working and that it was blowing cold air. Instead, he wanted to be paid the $100 deductable. When I asked him if he was going to wait to see if the unit will start blowing cold air, he said that it takes more that 30 minutes and he did not have the time. Also, he said that if my air conditioner doesn’t work it would be necessary for me to call Total Protect and file another claim. When I wouldn’t go along with what he was saying, Bryon became very intimidating and theatened to have me blackballed with Total Protect. Bryon spent a total of 20 minutes fixing my air conditioner. It is very obvious that there are severe short comings in all aspects of Total Protects’ services and ANS Service LLC. Therefore, I have cancelled my contract and I am advising everyone to “STAY AWAY FROM TOTAL PROTECT”

Called on July 13,2017 because my clothes dryer stopped working. I got a claim number and was instructed to call Long Lane Home Services in order to arrange for a repair. I called and got an appointment for July 19, 2017, six days later, for the repair. They could not give me a time that the repair man would arrive but said that I would receive a call a half hour before arrival. I called Total Protect because I was concerned about having to wait 6 days for service and that I would have to wait all day until the repair man arrived. Total Protect was not at all concerned and was not responsive. They said that there was nothing that they could do. On July 19, 2017, I waited all day from 8:00AM until 4:30PM, 8.5 hours, when I got a call saying that the repair man was on his way. Repair man arrived at 4;48PM, worked on the dryer for 30 minutes, fixed the problem and left at 5:20.
I am very concerned about all aspects of Total Protects’ services and their service providers. Therefore, I am cancelling my contract.

Takes too long sometimes for them to decide how to handle a repair. They don’t follow up sometimes with you. You will need to call them back. If you make too many calls they will terminate the contract.

Total Protect has some serious problems vetting their vendors. For some reason, especially in the AC/HVAC industry, TP attracts the worst scumbags around, at least here in S. Florida. It took me 6 tries to get an AC contractor to come out and resolve a duct problem I was having, and it wasn’t even TP who referred me to him, my wife happened to have his business card from a previous job he did for us. TP needs to vet their contractors better because it is their reputation that is at stake, not the contractor’s. These contractors always bitch about the fact that they don’t get paid enough to do certain jobs. Well, here is a bit of new to them whiny idiots; don’t sign up for the program. You morons need to take the good with the bad, or simply, don’t take anything at all. Here are some of the contractors I had an issue with: Maskow Appliance, Just In Time, South Cooling, and Monar HVAC. The 5th vendor I didn’t list didn’t do ducts, so I can’t blame them for that. Let’s see if the 6th contractor comes through. Stay clear of the 4 contractors mentioned. Their word is worthless.

I have used Total Protect for some years now and have been consistently satisfied with services provided and work done by their various contractors, however the co-pay on my policy is rather higher at $85. Even if the contractor’s regular service call fee is $65 or $75, it’s $85 through TP – but at least if return calls are necessary, there’s no additional fee.

In the past I was always afraid to insure my house items due to high prices. Then I stumbled upon this site and got a quote for Total Protect. Their prices are just right for me. In addition to that they offer 24/7 services and this means that they are able to take care of my problems at any time I call them. Their flat rate fee for every visit is perfect for me. I couldn’t ask for a better home warranty.
